Comprehensive Telecom Audit
Every telecom auditor and service verification technician at ERS Utility Solutions has 20+ years of experience in the telecom industry or managing these services for large organizations.
ERS Utility Solutions begins your comprehensive telecom audit by obtaining a copy of one month's billings, working from copies you provide or with view-only access to your service providers’ billing portals. We may request an Accounts Payable report listing the invoices charged to the telecom and network expense accounts to ensure that we have all of the pertinent invoices.
From this, our staff develops complete inventories by service type and location. A complete and accurate service inventory is the foundation for an effective audit. We also develop network mapping for your wide area network (WAN) services to be sure that we understand your network and how the billed services fit into the overall picture.
Once the service inventories are completed, we verify each service by asking and answering the following questions:
Our service verification process uses a variety of methods depending on the service and circumstances. This includes on-site verification as needed.
For those services where usage charges apply, such as long distance, wireless, measured local service, etc., a complete usage and rate analysis is conducted to determine if those charges are applied correctly. If better rate plans are available or if usage is incorrectly categorized due to a carrier error (such as misapplied roaming charges) or client system errors (such as local calls billing as long distance), we flag that item for expense recovery and/or correction.
You receive our audit findings and recommendations along with a request for approval to address billing and service issues. You also get the completed service inventory, a valuable tool in managing your services going forward.

The On-Site Difference
Why do we invest the time and travel expense to visit our clients' facilities?
A recent analysis of our audit results for the past five years found that over 29% of the total dollar benefit to our clients was directly from the issues found and information gathered in our site visits.
On-site verification of services is a valuable part of our audit process and a key tool in finding telecom service billing errors. Most organizations do not have staff time to inspect their demarcs and even if they do, it can be difficult for staff to physically verify billing detail against those services that are installed and in-use.
For this type of inspection to be effective, the service verification technician must know what services are being billed to each location. That's why we develop a complete service inventory for each location before we go on-site.
